TRAINING ROOMPrepare Like You Want To Win
Unlike submission-based design contests, this tournament is a battle format where emerging designers flex their skills before a live audience. It requires competitors to rapidly perform as their computer displays their project onto large screens. Competition rounds are 15-20 minutes each -fast and furious. It’s a dance of visual artistry accompanied by DJ music, an MC host and the influence of active bartenders.
Each tournament event features competitions in 2D, 3D and Motion/Animation design. The winners of each competition in each city are flown to New York to compete in our annual Global Championship.
Designers are largely unseen. They are tinkering, deliberate minds who work late nights lit by little more than the glow of their computer monitor. We want to know them better, so we merely shine a light on them in order to share their story.
We look for the best emerging talent the world's creative capitals have to offer. We showcase designers and their creative process for the education, excitement and inspiration of those who relish in witnessing inspired minds shine under pressure.
Some of us who are not professional designers or artists might be closeted ones. We may have given up our sketchbooks or paintbrushes when we chose our career path, but our creative instincts are not diminished. This tournament will show you what designers are doing today.
If you work with designers, recruit designers or are a creative pro in another field, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at the decisions they make and hear what matters to them. If you like what you see, you can talk with them after the show.
It's easy. First, take a look at our Competition Formats section. Here you will learn about the objectives, creative briefs, the tools and the rules for each of the 2D, 3D and Motion/Animation competitions. Once you’ve chosen the competition you’d like to enter, check out your city’s event overview page and select a qualifier event where you can try out with a test round.
Then check out the How To Compete section. You'll find our entry form as well as details on the selection process.

This year, we have a special audience design contest in collaboration with charity: water and sponsored by Adobe to drive awareness for an important problem: access to clean water for all.On mycharity: water, you can run, bike, or give up birthday presents to raise money to fund water projects for communities in need, and 100% of all donations directly funds water projects. In a 15-minute offstage round, the audience is challenged sketch a graphic that represents an activity you would do to raise money for clean water using the iPad and Adobe Ideas app, provided at Cut&Paste.
