On Sunday, March 10th, we brought our digital battle to SXSWi for the first time. Featuring four top graphic artists in a Design Throwdown, in two fast rounds, two teams squared off while world famous RAC performed live on stage. There was free admission, open bar, fresh live digital design & killer beats. All around excellent SX experience for us! Be sure to check out all the photos and the artwork created during the event...
Ya know, Pluto used to be a planet... until some technicality robbed it and made a plutoid. Well, we went retro during this Design Throwdown and helped Pluto make a comeback as the Ninth Planet. The idea was to terraform Pluto, changing it into a habitable world with breathable air and water. The SXSWi competitors were given the opportunity to create this world in their images. Their task was to imagine and design a new habitat focusing on aspects like, what beings could live in this habitat, what kind of landscape and atmosphere there could be, and what the habitat could look, smell, taste, feel, and sound like. Each team of two designers were given two 20-minute rounds to complete their final competition. During the first round, they created create elements and effects, and during the final round, they assembled all of their assets into a final composition. Check out what they made!
RAC has climbed the indie ranks and gone on to remix some of the biggest artists in the world, including Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kings of Leon, and U2. He has remixed and produced original music for television (Entourage, 90210, How To Make It In America), film (soundtrack for 2010 Sundance selection Holy Rollers), and several advertisements (Verizon, NBA, and Coca-Cola). His debut original single, “Hollywood,” includes featured vocalist Penguin Prison and was released via the Mountain Dew curated record label, Green Label Sound. The track immediately took off, topping all four charts on Hype Machine at once, going to #1 on Elbo.ws and breaking all previous Green Label Sound download records in its first week. RAC can currently be found preparing his debut artist album for release in 2013 as well as a compilation of greatest remix hits from the last four years entitled “RAC Chapter One” released last November.

We were thrilled to welcome AIGA Austin's Creative Mass and all AIGA visitors from around the USA visiting Austin for SXSWi. They were an amazing addition to our Design Throwdown crowd.
Pointroll and Cut&Paste welcomed members of the Digital DUMBO community. Digital DUMBO started as a monthly gathering for creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial minds in the neighborhood they call home, DUMBO, Brooklyn. Today, Digital DUMBO is a global platform for communities to meet one another, tap into emerging trends, and shape the future of their businesses and lifestyles. It’s a movement, it's a culture.
We’d like to thank PointRoll for being such a great collaborator in making this happen and for their passion for creatives and design. Their support in bringing our artist teams was unheralded. We’d also like to thank Blinq Media for their support as well as Mountain Dew’s Green Label Sound for bringing RAC to perform at the Throwdown.
