Cut&Paste made a stop at DETOUR 2011 to host a "Play Date" with the Hong Kong design community. Hong Kong designers were mounted a challenge to design based on a "Use-Less" concept. During Playdate @ Detour, Tat chan, Jonathan Jay Lee, Telephone Fung and Jack Lee showed what it meant to them to use less rather than being useless, with Telephone Fung winning this special event.

About DETOUR 2011: Use-Less
We let the Ambassadors of Design take us to a creative, and not-so-useless detour around the theme Use-Less. Dedicated to highlighting the impacts of irresponsible consumerism, DETOUR 2011 brought together an unprecedented lineup of creative concepts that stimulated conversations and inspired eco-living.Over the course of 17 days, DETOUR juxtaposed right or wrong, eco or wasteful — through a hodgepodge of exhibitions, installations, performances, conferences, workshops and forums at the Former Police Married Quarters, together with a host of satellite events around town. This wasn't just another arty perspective on the imminent need to reduce, reuse and recycle; but a showcase of creativity, knowledge and attitude towards the subject. After all, we are all consumers. We consume to produce waste — and the cycle continues. Do you [use-less], or are you [useless]?
